Regular detergent will work on most of our bags, Oxi clean is a great option, be very cautious especially if your bag has number decals from the original sail; soaking in detergent can cause these to peel off.

Over time, we have learned some good ways to maintain your Ruya Creations Sail Bag:

Spot clean if possible

use a soft brush and dish soap to spot wash

Air dry

Avoid putting your bag in the dryer

Machine wash

Tips and tricks

Keep in mind, all of our bags are made using recycled materials. This means that they already have some character built into each bag. They may include discolouration and marks that are difficult to wash out. Rust is nearly impossible to wash without damaging the integrity of the material.

For High Tech, laminated sails:

These sails can be susceptible to delamination. If you fold and scrunch the bag too often, this may cause it to wear over time. You may be able to tape it or patch it to extend its life. Our bags are guaranteed for one year after the date of purchase.

Hair Spray!

We had a fountain pen explode in a white dacron bag. Saturate the area with hairspray, put the bag through a wash cycle, and air dry. It will be like new.
